In reply to ApetersDC. Same here about missing the bag thing. It was great to book an award ticket and pay the taxes with my CSR (for insurance) and use the free bag pass courtesy of the card. It's gone now---will actually cause me to cancel.

Yeah, this is a bummer for me, as I always either book with my AmEx Platinum for 5x back, or book with other cards when I’m working towards a SUB.

Those have better earn rates/are better points currencies, but also the AmEx Platinum gives me the travel protections that the Alaska card doesn’t.

Luckily, we have MVP this year, so we’ll have the free bags regardless. But, if I ever dip below MVP, then this will create headaches on booking long trips or golf trips.

In reply to ApetersDC. Was thinking the same thing. My Mom is an authorized user on my Grandmas CC but hasn't been able to use the bag benefit because she isn't the primary. This new change seems like a positive benefit to some.

Seems you’re missing the change to the bag benefit, which requires the ticket to have been purchased with the card
