Thanks for the correction. As you pointed out, you still need the card number (your Platinum Amex card isn’t going to get you entry), but I guess you don’t need to have the physical card to obtain that information.

I just did this with an Amex Card. I contacted PP via email and they gave me the card number. I then called them up and they gave me the PIN number to get online access. I was able to use their app to then visit a Lounge.

FWIW – after getting the card, setting up your account online, and going to the Card Benefits – there’s a tab to activate your PP, which will show as “activated” once you, well, activate it =] The page on mine now says:

“Your Priority Pass™ Select memberships have already been activated. You and your authorized users can access 900+ VIP airport lounges worldwide with Priority Pass™ Select and enjoy lounge amenities such as WIFI, free snacks, beverages and more with your Priority Pass™ Select membership card.”

If you haven’t formally activated yours yet, can’t hurt might help speed the process along, good fall back to argue your way in.

Chase declined me. Said I opened nine (9) accounts in last 24 months. They gave us the Chase Freedom Unlimited card two months ago with 7 accounts opened in previous 24 months with $26k credit limit. I guess we’ll have to wait at least a year or more to get the Reserve.

Thanks Scott. I could have done the search. I thought maybe TPG had an inside number 🙂

A Google search suggests the number is 888-245-0625.

Does Chase have a phone number for reconsideration requests? Sorry, could not find one.

Got the “We’re reviewing your application” message, called the recon line and was told I was declined for too many new accounts. Appealed to supervisor who reviewed and upheld the denial. Such a sad and stupid rule.

Sure. I’m not aware that Chase has any limits on how many cards you can apply for. However, they tend not to approve too many applications at one time. If you apply for a card now I recommend waiting at least a month, and preferably three months or more, before making your next application.

Applying for a business and a personal card on the same day is still fine as far as I’m aware.

It doesn’t mean that you were denied. You can wait a week or two to find out their decision, however, calling now would make it easier to persuade them to approve your application. If you wait and they decide to deny your application, reconsideration after the fact can be more complicated.

Should I call a reconsideration line, assuming this means denied. I think I’m above the 5/24 line.

Also Can you apply for a Business card on the same day like the Marriott card? Just curious if you know the dets on that. Thanks!

You’ll need to get the Priority Pass card first, and I’m not sure how Chase is handling that. You could probably ask to see if they’re mailing it out automatically or if you have to wait. I’ve seen banks do both. Once you have the card that’s all you need to guest someone in.

There is a digital app, but my understanding is you need to know your card info in order to use it. So you’ll need to get the physical card first.

I don’t see any benefit to closing a card before applying for a new one.

A few days ago I asked if you’d recommend that I apply before or after cancelling other personal cards. You recommended I apply first and then cancel cards so I could move around other credit lines to get approved. But none of my other credit lines are from chase (I have amex, Barclays, and BoA cards) and two business chase inks. Does your advice still hold? Or is there some scenario in which Chase might look more favorably on my app if I have fewer personal cards open?

Very excited about getting this card although was disappointed to find out they will not expedite shipping on this card right now. I am traveling to asia next Thursday so really wanted to get this card as quickly as possible. Scott, what do you think the guest benefits will be for the priority pass select membership? Hopeing my wife can join me without paying fees each time. I would make her an authorized user on this card but $75 and from what I have seen, poor benefits for AUs on the Reserve don’t make that very attractive to me. Also, assuming I do get this card in time for my travel next week do I need to wait for PP to send me the actual membership card before I can use the lounge or can you get a digital card using there app? I read conflicting info about whether or not the digital cards are available for PP select members who sign up through credit cards.
