I did not have any problem with Housekeeping, or food.

The room service food was at par with a hotel room service (small portion though – appetizer size entree). I do not remember if it was an Inner Circle benefit, or if the front desk was kind enough to give me a breakfast voucher..but the breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant was pretty satisfactory. (I would compare it to Hilton DoubleTree breakfast buffets.) It had some options that were made-to-order (pancakes, omelette, etc) included as a part of the buffet.

Scott has done justice to the room’s description.
PS- The TV can be rotated towards the living room or 180 degrees towards the bed. 😉

If you want better food for better prices, you have to leave downtown, Brickell and Miami Beach. The design district area has some up and coming restaurants. PB Steak and PB Sushi are excellent, they are on the beach but away from the regular areas frequented by tourists. Chef Adrianne’s is excellent if you want to venture south and west of downtown. There are many other restaurants in Coral Gables, like Ortanique on the Mile, which are also excellent. Two Chef’s in South Miami has an excellent bacon wrapped meatloaf. There are other smaller places to get good food in S. Fl. but you have to venture away from the comforts of the regular tourists areas.

Shoot me an email if you are ever back here and I’ll give you some more recommendations.

I looked at Zuma and saw the good reviews, but it also looked to be extremely pricey. I don’t like Japanese food enough to pay that much.

I’m not sure what the problem is on the food front, either. I’ve been to over a dozen restaurants over three trips, paying anywhere from $10/person to $100/person. The pricey meals were better, but still not as good as I can find with a shot-in-the-dark for $50 in Seattle. The cheaper meals were on par with a bad experience at McDonalds.

It’s one of the top 2-3 restaurants in South Florida. Agreed with the other restaurant though, I work across the street and have had lunch there take almost 2 hours with it being half empty.

Our stay was wonderful. The north side pool was being fixed and I agree the the south pool was missing tiles, but I would assume that pool is next to be redone. We had lunch at the pool twice and the service was good as was the food. Not gourmet, but poolside decent. Sunday’s they have live music at the pool. While its not beachside, (South Beach). We did enjoy the quiet and peaceful evenings and mornings opposed to South Beach, where it is noisy with buses, cars, trucks and lte night partygoesrs.

We also had dinner at Zuma’s, the hotels Japanese restaurant. It was excellent! And I believe one of the top rated on Yelp. We ate breakfast twice at a french cafe/bakery a few blocks to the north (name escapes me), which was very enjoyable. We spend one afternoon riding the courtesy bicycles, and rode around Bayside and then to Brickell Key. I took a yoga class, overlooking the river. We acutually extended our 3 day stay to 5 day. We ate at Tuyo’s which is 2 blocks from across the American Airlines Arena (we were there for a Concert). It is atop the the Miami Dade College’s new Miami Culinary Institute, under chef Norman Van Aiken and it is EXCELLENT! We had our own transportation and drove to South Beach one night, ate at RED, The Steakhouse, which was fantastic. We cabbed it one night to Prime 112 and Prime Italian, also on South Beach. So many places we did not get to try, but did venture over to Mary Brickell Village which is filled with shops, restaruants and bars. Fun, lively place and a 5-7 minute cab ride from the hotel. I don’t know why you were unable to find good food, Miami is loaded with them. We depend on locals,(not the concierge) to guide us. Our doorman recommended Mary Brickell Village and the French Cafe recommended Tuyo’s. All of which passed muster in our book.

I recommend the EPIC.and have never been disappointed by Kimpton.

Happy Travels! 🙂
