Unfortunately, you cannot compare Carnival, the Walmart of cruises, to a Luxury Brand. However if You look at room size, what’s included, all the add in fees. If you’re looking for a decent size room, with a drink, tip, and wifi package, You can easily come within a few thousand of a Seabourn cruise. Yet for comparison sake.
7 day Alaska cruise Balcony room for 2: $3,183.04
Prepaid drink package: $840
Wifi: $161
1 night specialty dinning: $84
Total: $4,268
Yes this is about the price of 1 person on a luxury line. You also are stuck on a ship with less personal space and instead of 1:1 staffing, 2.5 to 1 person staffing. There’s also a ton of other hidden fees and lower quality all around. So when all is said and done, Seabourn is 1.5-2x the cost of Carnival for similar rooms. And even then a Balcony room on carnival is 1/2 the size of Seabourn. So in the end, you’re getting what you pay for.

Two can get to Alaska on NCL on select weeks for $4000 as well. At least NCL offers near all inclusive packages with dining, wifi, etc. Yet NCL average staffing is 4.3 staff to each guest. So expect longer lines and less personalized service.

Seabourn and Silverseas costs are nearly the same week to week in 2023, There are weeks that SilverSeas is more and weeks where Seabourn is more expensive. Silverseas also uses a larger ship, and hold nearly 200 more people, hence why they can offer it for less some weeks. Plus Silverseas still charges you for specialty dining at Kaiseki for dinner. Although SilverSeas does offer some free excursions. So this too is a win win depending on what you’re looking for.

In the end, there’s different options for different folks. If you can afford to spend a little more, I highly recommend it for an all around better vacation. Yet in the in, Luxury is an idea that is defined by each person.

About the cheapest price over the next 2 years on Seabourn to Alaska is at least $3k per person for an inside cabin $3,500 for balcony and I think that’s a good deal but it’s still about 4x more than Carnival, NCL, etc. Heck it’s twice as much as Disney. Even Oceania and Silversea are less. So again I live Silversea and yes you should absolutely use a cruise agent to book a cruise it’s not close in price even with all the extras included.
