Hi Scott, apologies for replying so late. I’m not active on disqus so the notification email kinda got lost in all my emails. Anyway, to answer your question:
1. The CGK-SIN RT on SQ -is- visible and bookable on Kayak. I managed to reach the final page where I enter my personal + payment info.
2. When I tried searching multi-city CGK-ALA & TAS-CGK, only TK’s routes came up. There are several multi-airlines routes too but no SQ in any of the legs.
3. I also tried searching one way CGK-ALA, but then again only TK’s routes came up.

What do you think?
Thanks.

Are you certain that Singapore Airlines is operating this flight? For example, are you able to find and book it if you go to a paid ticket site like Kayak? Recent experience tells me SQ has made a lot of schedule adjustments due to the pandemic.

I’m trying to book a RT CGK-ALA & TAS-CGK partner award using my KF but for some reason SQ website kept giving me all-TK flights. I read somewhere that it is possible to get the CGK-IST + IST-CGK leg on SQ and the IST-ALA + TAS-IST on TK, but I was still shown all-TK flights even after I tried searching next May, Aug, and Oct. The post I read showed that someone did managed to do it, albeit the post was from last year.

When I searched, I just entered the required information like usual (from, to, dates, class, number of people), nothing else. I even called the SQ call center just now and they also can’t find any flights that would include SQ metal (they -said- they can only see the all-TK flights).

Did I do something wrong? Do I need to do something special to get the route I want? Or is it simply not possible to do so?

Thank you.

I agree, it’s more complex than some of our US programs, but they are pretty up front about what they charge and upcoming changes. James (who wrote the post) is a big fan.

Ever since Amex ( Australia) halved the redemption rate to Kris Flyer (as well as reducing the earn rate) it’s been more of a challenge. The best I can say is that SQ is transparent and award flights are readily availed. PS if you know your stuff and ask nicely sometimes they will reserve your booking for (up to) several months, but you need to be lucky. Thx once again – now I will have another site to pay more attention to

According to my account, I was supposed to gain some 4000-5000 miles by the 30th of April to gain Gold status. I took my flight on that day which gave me over 6000 miles. However, the next day i.e 1st of May, my account status changed as the date had passed and now is asking me to achieve another 11000 or so by August 31 to hit Gold. A few days later, the points from my flight on the 30th of April got credited and now it shows that I need some 5000 odd points to hit Gold by 31st August. I should have been Gold already since I fulfilled my criteria as on 30th of April. I have mailed them and waiting for their reply. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.

There could be a number of reasons. I don’t know about Singapore’s claim that they only have access to mainline flights.

I do know they only have access to saver award tickets, so if you are looking at an award that is priced differently it won’t be available to partners. If it’s a domestic ticket, a saver award should cost 12,500 miles each way.

Without more information about the specific flight, I’m not really able to help further.

Called SQ and the agent told me it’s because they only have access to United mainline flights, however, I found out that’s not true as some NYC-ORD/MAD routes are operated by regional United Express. Would you know what I did wrong and if it’s possible to booked a flight from/into El Paso, TX? Thanks in advance

Try using the American Airlines site. If they have an Alaska award available, then Singapore should, too.

Thanks, Scott. I’ve tried searching the Alaska site and can’t find their levels posted anywhere. Most of the ones I’ve found are 40k-50k each, so I’m assuming they are Anytime awards, but I’m not sure what their Saver level would be even just from Hawaii to the West Coast. All I can find indicates a range of 15k-50k.

Most airlines only release “saver” award space to partners. On Alaska, this costs 12,500 one-way in coach and 25,000 one-way in first class for travel in the continental US; Hawaii is more (probably 20,000 and 40,000).

The more expensive flight you found is an “anytime” award that is only available using Alaska miles.

Is there a certain award type that has to be available on Alaska for it to be bookable with Krisflyer miles? I’ve found availability (50k one way) from OGG to DFW (via SEA or PDX) on 1/3/20, but when I called and emailed Singapore Airlines, they couldn’t see any availability. What am I doing wrong?

There are about USD$250 in taxes and fees in a normal business class ticket, so you’d have to pay those. There’s another fee for partner awards. I don’t know what the other USD$250 is for. Perhaps the fees are higher because it’s pricing the flights as two one-ways.

The redemption came out to be 40k and $674 SGD. What do you think happened?

Since I’d only be in Manchester for 3hrs before connecting onward to Vienna, I wasn’t sure if this counts as a true “stop over” and thus be charged the $100 fee.

Would I be able to also add a connection flight on Austrian from Manchester to Vienna, in biz to this flight for the same 65k miles? There is saver level biz seat available for the date I need, allowing me to connect onward with only a 3hr stop in Manchester.

What Star Alliance airline would you recommend crediting miles then? Aegean maybe?
