This never happened with the old website.

You can’t transfer to a partner’s external program account. If you want to do that, you’ll first have to transfer to a partner’s Ultimate Rewards account and then they can initiate the external transfer.

As for whether you, with a Chase Freedom, can transfer to your wife’s Chase Sapphire Preferred… I am not certain. But I think you can. it should be easy enough to try. Log into your Ultimate Rewards account and try to initiate the transfer as I described above. Put in your wife’s name and CSP account number. Either it will work or it won’t. Linking the account doesn’t mean you have to immediately proceed to transferring the points.

Or to your partners frequent flyer/hotel account? Thanks

In theory elite benefits only go to the room in which he member is sleeping. If the hotel is going to be generous I don’t think it matter if it’s booked in your name or if you’re just associated with the reservation.

Keep in mind there’s not much you get from Platinum anymore. Internet is free for everyone and bed type is not guaranteed.

That’s why I read your blog… because you are wealth of information!!!

Well on this trip, my wife and I are both Hyatt Platinum so we were hoping to book 2 rooms under my name and 1 room under my wife’s (to see if we can extract any benefit you get as a Platinum, even if it’s very little)

Also, this trip is in June so I was hoping for a Hyatt diamond challenge (I know it’s not going to be anywhere near the generous option from last year) would resurface soon then I would switch to points+cash option for one of my room to get credit for stays… But rooms are going fast so I may not be able to wait too much longer..

This was great timing- used it today! I’m booking a United award flight and was able to do it much faster by combining Chase points with my spouse.

I would suggest seeing if you could book 4 room nights and your sister could book 11 room nights. That would save the hassle of a transfer, although she would be 5,000 points short. You could always call the hotel and arrange to have the reservations linked so you don’t change rooms.

Well, My sister has 55k and brother in law has 60k and I have 185k.
So he is transferring his points to my sister.. then she is joining Hyatt GP program to transfer her points to Hyatt. Then she is filling out the Hyatt form to transfer the now converted Hyatt points to me so I can book the rooms.

It’s not easy.. but it is doable. too bad Hilton won’t let me combine points for a big award.

Correct, the points are tracked separately and associated with each card. The total you see on the Chase account page is just a summary.

You should follow the same process I just outlined above. Pick one the cards — it doesn’t matter — to visit on the Ultimate Rewards website and then go to the link to combine points. You can then transfer them from your Ink Plus to your Ink Bold or vice versa. Make sure you pay attention to which card has the points so you don’t cancel it by mistake.

You would need to do something with your points before you close your credit card — either redeem them for cash, transfer them to an outside loyalty program, or transfer them to another Ultimate Rewards card.

In my Chase account, it shows a total of UR points relfecting the combined total. Yet, when I link to the UR website, it separates between the 2 cards with their individual point balances, and asks me to choose which UR card account I want to visit.

Any need or way to combine these? If I were to cancel one of the two Ink cards, would I need to transfer UR points to a airline/hotel partner first, so as not to lose the points?

Thanks.
