Thanks. Hardly seems worth the effort; better to spread across brands if <60 nights planned. Great post.

If you have Gold through Amex Platinum, what do you require to progress to diamond? Is it 20 more nights (ie you assume 40 at Gold) or do you start at zero and need to climb to the full 60…

If you have status through a credit card, then your elite qualifying nights are at zero. They just give you the status. So you’ll need to earn the full number of qualifying nights to reach Diamond status or any of the bonus points at periodic thresholds beyond Diamond status.

I’m not aware of a way to check your progress online. However, you could probably contact Hilton and ask them for an update.

Yes. If you spend $200,000 on stays then you’ll earn 1,000,000 base points and get lifetime diamond status.

I haven’t tried in the past. I recommend calling Hilton and asking what your options are.

I haven’t contacted them yet, but in your past experience, as they amicable to reinstating points even with a fee?

Thanks Scott. Wow, that’s horrible value. No wonder I’ve never heard of it. Wouldn’t be worth it for that kind of horrible exchange rate.

I’m happy to make the update. Meanwhile, you can find more information here: https://hiltonhonors3.hilton.com/en/earn-use-points/exchange/airline-rail/index.html

You can transfer 10,000 Hilton Honors points to most airline loyalty programs and typically get 1,000 or 1,500 airline miles in return. I don’t consider this a good value. Consider that Hilton points are worth about 0.5 cents each and most airline miles are worth 1.5 to 2.0 cents each. A more fair conversion ratio would be 10,000 points for 2,500 or 3,500 miles.

What is that point transfer process like and rates? Thanks in advance.

That’s a good idea. Thanks for suggesting it.

You can do that option and just pay $250 plus 10000 points as long as the 10000 points are still being redeemed at .5c per point.
