Check the flight number, for example AA66 (British airways partner flight from JFK to BCN) and there are several sites that give detailed info on the type of plane. I was able to learn that for this particular flight AA66, it is the newer 777-200 being used.

Can I ask how tall Graeme is? I fly BA Club Europe fairly often, but at 6’7″, it’s pretty hellish since they changed the seating a few years back, where I could ‘just’ get in. I used to pay extra and book the emergency exit seats in the economy cabin (usually £30 each sector on top of what other economy travellers were paying…annoyingly!), but after several cock-ups and last minute cabin reconfigurations, meaning that the emergency exit seats had been shifted into a higher priority cabin, and the original seats not honoured, I/we just thought we may as well pay for Club Europe from now on, and just use the spare middle seat as some wiggle room for my legs. Now I’ve got that off my chest…! :o) It says on the BA site that PE has a 38″ seat pitch, and as I’m thinking of doing a longer haul flight next year, I was wondering what height Graeme is so that I can gauge how much available legroom I’d have, looking at his legroom photo. Thanks for your help

Maybe not so comfortable for taller chaps (which isn’t my case) but for me the leg rest does 50% of the comfort. Will soon fly with the new config and have no clue on the impact for me.

Norwegian has stopped providing lounge access to most Premium customers because it’s not cost-effective (presumably the same reason BA doesn’t do this).

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/norwegian-scraps-free-lounge-access-for-premium-passengers/

However, Norwegian doesn’t use its own lounges. It has contract lounges that, as far as I know, are mostly part of the Priority Pass network. That means you might be able to access them for free with certain credit cards no matter what airline you fly.

I note Norwegian gives free access to lounge facilities in Gatwick and a wider meal choice onboard than economy, whereas BA apparently does not offer lounge access. Are they just be stingy or is there a genuine reason. Its years since I used BA…. so prepared to give it another go… fingers crossed…

It was a slightly better cabin we do agree, but the seats only felt slightly larger than Economy. The food was the same as economy but I believ this may of be in the process of improvements.

I have not flown Air France, but it’s probably better than British Airways. I’ve flown WT+ on BA a couple times in both versions. I preferred the newer product. Neither was very impressive, but I consider BA unimpressive in almost all cases and only fly them for the sake of convenience.

Thank you SO much, Scott. So, whether it’s new or old version, it’s better than standard econ (which is awful on any airline). I’m wondering if you’ve flown Air France. I have flown premium economy on that airline and it was night and day from flying economy. But I’ve never flown British Airways. Do have any idea how they match up? I’m asking because Air France premium econ. is FAR more expensive.

IFE is a standard abbreviation for “in-flight entertainment.”

“World Traveller” (WT) is British Airways’ brand name for economy class. “World Traveller Plus” (WT+) is their brand name for premium economy class. WT+ comes in both old and newer versions because the seat changed during roll-out.

Some people are critical of the old version for being dated and worn, even though the seats do have extra padding. Some people are critical of the new version for being not much better than regular economy–simply extra legroom. You’ll find people who dislike both versions of WT+, but nearly everyone can agree it’s still better than standard economy.

What is “IFE”? This lingo is confusing to a non-Brit. We are booking a flight to London from US on WTP. Is this what you are saying is awful–or is regular economy awful? are you saying that the new seats that are bad or the old? English please.

The old seats also had leg rests. They were significantly more comfortable than WT seats (and very padded). They’re just dated and worn and the IFE is awful now.

I flew this new one last year from ORD And found the reduced padding to be difficult to sit on for 8 hours.

The ability to recline is an important feature that one pays for; why in the world would you choose not to use it? It would be akin to offering your meal to someone who is extra hungry. Courtesy is important but it shouldn’t require self-sacrifice.

It is most definitely not just an econ seat with extra leg room. It has the same width as the new seat. I’m not saying the new seat isn’t better, but it isn’t that big of an upgrade comfort wise.

Haha. Like Graeme said, it didn’t look great but it was tasty.

Thanks for the info. That’s rather unfortunate. But if United can do a great dietary restrictive meal, BA can. Don’t slack guys!

They cook it fully and braise it with some reduction (red wine vinegar or something) so that it’s moist and tender. So, it’s no medium rare steak but it tastes good. I haven’t prebooked my meal in WTP, but I’ve always gotten my first choice and I have flown WTP 1 or 2 round trips per year for a few years now. Since it’s a small cabin (5 rows or something), it’s not so hard to get your first choice, I think they carry enough extras.

But if you prebook your meal due to diet restrictions, they won’t give you anything else – I’ve seen people in WTP ask for something else because the special dietary meal was inedible, only to be told that they can only have their prebooked meal.
