Hurtigruten BOGO Cruise Deal

Hurtigruten BOGO expedition deal is better than most deals as it includes all port fees and taxes as well. The price you see for the first person is the total price for two. The only exception is if there is airfare or a charter flight included, such as select itineraries in the Galapagos and Antarctica. Then, and only then is the airfare extra for the second passenger. This deal is only available when booked via an approved travel agent and you cannot find this deal anywhere online or by calling Hurtigruten directly. 

No Solo Supplement

This deal is not limited to couples either. Don’t have a travel partner? Don’t worry, Hurtigruten will not punish you.  You can receive a discount of 50% off of a full single occupancy cruise fare! Whereas most cruise and expedition companies charge up to double when traveling alone, Hurtigruten is waiving those fees! Just pay for one person. Yet, if you have a friend they can join you for free too!

The Hilton Honors Program

For me, the Hilton Honors loyalty program gives me plenty of value when it comes to earning and redeeming points.  Four features that I find extremely useful are:

• No resort fees are charged on award stays,
• Complimentary room upgrades,
• Executive lounge access and
• The fifth night is free using points on a standard rate room redemption.

There are four levels of Hilton Honors membership:

Shelly and I both have the American Express Hilton Aspire credit card which earns us up to 20 points per dollar spent along with a boatload of other perks.  Hilton Honors lets you purchase up to 80,000 points per year if you need to top off your tank to book an award stay.  Normally, I don’t purchase points or miles because the math isn’t there to entice me.  

The Current Points Purchase Offer

Usually about twice a year, Hilton Honors runs a sale on purchased points with two perks for purchasing:

• Hilton will award up to a 100% bonus on purchased miles and
• Hilton will waive the annual 80,000 maximum point purchase cap and allow you to double the maximum points purchase.

This means that you can purchase 160,000 and receive 160,000 bonus points for a maximum accrual of 320,000 points.  This is the sale that I wait for.  Hilton Honors is running this sale through May 9, 2023.  This sale is being run differently with the Mystery Bonus Points offer.  To make a points purchase, log into your Hilton Honors account and click on Points.  I found that Hilton Honors is now running a two-factor authentication so you will have to enter the six-digit code from the text message they send you.

Busting The 160,000 Maximum Points Purchase

After purchasing points on my account, I went to do the same on Shelly’s account.  I repeated the steps above and she got a much better result.  Her mystery offer was to purchase up to 240,000 points and receive an additional 240,000 points for a total of 480,000 points.  Were my eyes deceiving me?  I have never seen Hilton run a points sales this big.  I jumped on this offer and purchased her mystery point deal on the spot.  Here is what she got:

No Credit Card Bonus For This Purchase

The only drawback to purchasing points is that the actual seller of the points is points.com.  Most point and mile purchase deals are handled through points.com so the actual points that you receive for the credit card spend are usually earned at the standard rate.  With that in mind, choose the credit card that is most advantageous to you for this purchase.

Final Thoughts

Normally, I pass on purchasing both points and miles because the math just isn’t there.  I buy Hilton Honors points once a year when they offer a higher points purchase cap with a 100% bonus on purchased points.  This sale is different, your offer might break the 200% sale purchase cap and allow you to buy at a 300% purchase.  Remember that there are no resort fees charged on award stays and the fifth night is free at the standard award rate.  If you are a Hilton Honors elite member, ask for a complimentary room upgrade upon check-in.  This offer is scheduled to end on May 9, 2023.  Don’t let this sale get away from you.

What Are Amex Offers

American Express offers are special deals, discounts, and rewards available to American Express cardholders. These offers are typically tailored to individual card members and can vary based on the type of card you have and your spending patterns.

Examples of American Express offers include cashback on certain purchases, discounts at specific merchants, and access to exclusive events or experiences. Usually purchasing gift cards do not qualify, but there are typically exceptions on select offers.  Amex offers may be available for a limited time with strict expiration dates, while others may be ongoing. 

To access American Express offers, log in to your account online or through the Amex app. From there, you can browse available offers and add them to your card. On Seabourn, nearly everything is included in the cost of the Sailing. Unlike other companies, the price you pay includes it all! There are no hidden port fees or service charges like the big ships. This means for less than $8,000 per person, you have an all-inclusive trip for Antarctica. The only fee left is to purchase your flights from home to Buenos Aires. Once on the ship, all your food, premium alcohol, and daily excursions are included. Even Wi-fi, all dining options, and gratuities are built into the cost! Unlike other operators there are no surprise charges on Seabourn. Pay upfront and just enjoy your vacation when  you arrive on the ship!

Seabourn really does include nearly everything in the cost. There’s no hidden fees, added port fees or taxes, or mandatory gratuities. The cost quoted really does include it all! Now I must be honest, on Seabourn there are only a few extra costs, all which are optional. For example, there are only two excursions which are not complimentary. You can include an Antarctica submarine excursion for exploring the depths of the Weddell Sea in an all-electric sub. Or consider Kayaking in Antarctica on a guided Antarctica Kayak adventure. Kayaking is $199 per person and the submarine cost is $999 per person.

Seabourn also does have an upgraded wine package available if you are very particular about your wine. Otherwise, most wines are complimentary. From my experience on Seabourn the wine is decent, serving wine which retail from $15-$30 a bottle. I didn’t upgrade my wine options and I was more than satisfied and likely drank my weight in wine last time.

Luxury Antarctica Excursions

Seabourn Luxury Antarctica sailings are not to be outdone. As the company has switched from the Seabourn Quest to Polar class purposefully built Seabourn Expedition ships, Seabourn is changing how they do expeditions. The ships are extremely luxurious, holding just 264 guests across 132 cabins. All cabins have a private balcony. Something nearly no other ship can boast. The ships even has pools and hot tubs that are designed to be utilized in polar climates.

Furthermore, the Seabourn Venture and Pursuit are decked out with multiple bars and dining venues. Choose to eat and drink at over 8 different venues. There’s no assigned dining times or tables. Eat where you want, with whoever you want. If you’re note feeling social, order room service. The same menu available in the dining room can be sent to your room.

The ship boasts a beautiful spa and even a polar Sauna with views to the world outside. With over 20 hours of daylight in Antarctica, these windows will come in handy!

Yet, this isn’t why you’re in Antarctica. Most people are going to Antarctica to see the penguins, whales, ice burgs, seals and more. Onboard 24+ naturist sail with Seabourn. On each Zodiac excursions, small groups explore with a naturalist/expedition leader who will answer questions and educate passengers. Back on the ship, additional naturalist are ready to educate and answer questions.

Seabourn’s newest director of expedition has 13 years’ experience in expeditions. Coming from Lindblad Expeditions / National Geographic, Jen is helping reimagine Seabourn’s Antarctica expedition program. Zodiacs take passengers on multiple daily excursions and to land for short hikes and exploration of the 7th continent.

Antarctica Deal Pricing

The Antarctica sale is unlike anything I’ve seen. The current deals reduce the price to as low as $7,912 per person on select 11 day expeditions. Nearly half the price of the competition! Find all pricing and dates here.  Visit Antarctica over Christmas or New Years for as low as $10,200 per person. Wait until Peak season in January 2024 when the weather is typically the best and prices are typically high. This deal allows you to secure January expedition for just $9,374. All prices are shockingly low for Antarctica. Select 13 day extended options start as low as $10,724 in Nov 2023. Pricing like this will not stick around. So if you are truly looking to visit Antarctica, now is your time to go and save.

Antarctica Solo Travelers

For those who are traveling solo, do note that Seabourn does not offer any solo deals to Antarctica. All rooms are based on double occupancy. Very few rooms hold 3 people. Yet, I also have deals on Ponant, a French operator which offers luxury deals to Antarctica.  Solo offers with Ponant start from just $10,260. This is among the best deals I’ve seen for a luxury operator in Antarctica for solo travelers. Feel free to contact me for more information about the Ponant Solo traveler deals and dates as only the Seabourn deal is listed on our travel agency website.

There are also less fancy options on larger ships, such as Hurtriguten MS Roald Amundsen. These ships hold upwards to 500 passengers, which reduce your time on land and off the ship. But we can typically find expeditions for around $8,000 with Hurtriguten. Also, there are several other operators in Antarctica. Quark only works in the polar regions. They have shared rooms and a roommate matching program which I can help price out for travelers. Options are limitless, it’s just really depending on what you’re looking for and your budget.

I love writing about Antarctica and selling Antarctica. There are many reasons why you should utilize a travel agent. The Antarctica discounts for 2023 have been the best I’ve ever seen. Those who wait win, as I paid nearly double the going rate to lock in my expedition in 2023. As more operators open up Antarctica you can choose between luxury operators to budget friendly Antarctica vacations. There are even adult only Viking cruise options on their new ships. No matter what scene you are looking for, I can help you plan your Antarctica adventure. Seabourn cruises dates are only available through Feb 2024, but other operators already have 2024 into 2025 available for booking.

I write about Seabourn the most, because they really are having the best all inclusive prices. Yet, if you love Viking, they have deals too. Currently, a deal for just a $25 deposit; but cruises start at $12,000 per person on the Viking Octantis or Polaris. Next, there’s SilverSeas offing fly-in options. If you’re scared of the Drake passage, consider a fly in option with SilverSeas on the most expensive luxury expedition ship ever built, the SilverSeas Endeavour.

Finally, Antarctica is a very special place. There are several operators that visit the 7th continent and even fewer who have landing rights. Be sure you book the right Antarctica vacation. Princess Cruises Healthcare Discount

Princess Cruises Healthcare discount is for new bookings made between December 5, 2022 and January 31, 2023 for nearly all 2023 or 2024 sailing. You can make this booking via your favorite travel agent or by booking directly with Princess. The 25% off + bonus savings of up to 40% on select cruises applies to cruise fare only and is based on Princess Standard fares and stateroom category on a space-available basis at time of booking. Suites do not qualify. Discounts apply to inside, oceanview, and balcony rooms only.

Princess Standard fares are basic fares which do not include any special packages. Yet, you can upgrade your cruise to Princess Plus or Princess Premier. If you wish to book Princess Plus an additional $50 per person per day will apply. If you wish to book Princess Premiere an additional $75 per person per day will apply.
