Thanks for the reply, Scott, I think I’ll give LAX a second chance on my next international flight. The lounge there looks too good to pass up. Thanks also for the tip about using other lounges at SF, great idea.

According to the lounge access policies, paid memberships include access to Star Alliance-owned lounges. However, you do need to be departing on a Star Alliance flight.

If you’re passing through SFO on a Star Alliance carrier already, you don’t need to use the United Club. This same policy entitles you to use the lounges operated by Singapore Airlines and EVA.

Thanks for reading. Unfortunately, I’m not a United Club member so I don’t have the answer to your question.

I traveled several times through LAX from Asia back in the 80s, but the lines to get to customs were so incredibly long, I hated the experience and have avoided the LAX airport ever since, except for domestic flights. Traveling internationally through SF is a much better experience. However, United Club lounges in SF seem to be full most of the time, so the LAX Star Alliance Lounge sound worth a try. Will United Club membership without gold status get you in?

I know right?? It’s such a classy space. There’s no bar outside, just a terrace. It’s still a great space though.

Yeah, it’s weird. I just think people don’t know about it. But it’s such a great space!

That makes you feel like you are not in an average airport lounge. It looks like the outdoor deck is amazing also. Did you order a drink there from the outdoor bar?
